Using the same interviews and coding methods with cross-cultural study groups in countries such as the Netherlands and the United States, interviews were conducted with 410 parents of children aged 3 to 12 in Beijing and Fuzhou, both in China. The purpose was to explore natural language approaches The personality traits of children in our country, and cross-cultural comparisons of the results with the same researches done abroad. The results show that the personality characteristics of children in this sample can be explained by the adult “five-factor model”. Moreover, the freedom provided by Chinese parents describes a “14 concept” coding system that is fully integrated into the design of the study group in the United States and the Netherlands. Compared with the results of other countries. Chinese parents place much more emphasis on the concept of “cautiousness” than parents of children from the United States, the Netherlands and Belgium, demonstrating significant cultural differences. In addition, Chinese parents pay more attention to children’s “intellectual” problems than parents in western countries, but they have the least conceptual description of children’s “pleasantness”.
