The fly ash used in the Tianjin Silicate Products Factory was affected by the annual shrinkage of the ash storage area of the power plant. It was very difficult to pick up the fine ash. As a result, the fly ash became increasingly unfavorable year after year. The ash used in the first half of 1984 was sometimes as thick as 40% (4900 holes/cm to 2% of sieve residue) and the average fineness was 32 to 38%.
