Krumrui I. INTRODUCTION There are about 25 sets of ash monitors operated by the Ruhr Coal Company at 15 hard coal washing plants. Over 90% of these are for quality control of the final product. Ruhr Coal Company produced about 45 million t of washed commercial coal in 1992: (1) 80% of quality coal with 6.5 to 10% ash content.
