滨江临海,棉花生育过程中的梅雨、阵雨、秋雨对棉花生产威胁很大。田间排灌工程必须坚持深沟高垅。1991年两段梅雨,雨量是常年的5.66倍,水害成为阻碍棉花生产的主要矛盾。深沟高垅有效地改善了棉花生态环境,“三高”效果显著。单位皮棉(666.7m~2)增38.84kg,衣分增3.46%,效益增249.32元。其增产机理:建树营养体、发展生殖体、提高经济系数。增产的阶段性因素:快排,快发苗;快管,快结桃;快降,少烂桃。田间工程标准:围沟要深,田间沟深30cm以上,垅沟深7cm,垅高15cm。工程施工必须秋播打基础,梅前高壅土,梅后精整修,一沟两用,排灌通畅。
