The United States Bureau of Mines has developed and successfully tested a device to handle pit in mine pit and chute plug. Experiments show that the device is faster, safer and more effective than the existing method of handling clogging. The device incorporates a launch pad assembly that handles plugging at a distance of 15.2 meters from the location of the explosive so that miners can set up components and charge explosives outside the danger zone. This article describes the device’s working principle, data and structure diagram, and illustrates the installation and use. Also briefly described the development of the device, the initial test, the mine in the pit test conditions and applications.
