在荀子看来,“化性起伪”产生了人与人之间道德善恶程度的差异,这种差异就是儒家所倡导的贵族等级礼制的道德基础。因而从政治上看,贵族等级礼制的本质就是对恶的克制,是善者对恶者的统治,政治与道德是相统一的。但是,由于荀子用政治原则规范道德范畴,忽视了道德的独立性,因而从道德的角度看,荀子的政治原则并不能真正实现善者对恶者的统治,其理想政治制度也不能实现最理想的道德境界。因此,荀子的“化性起伪”说存在着政治与道德的逻辑矛盾。
