Hydrogels constitute a class of polymeric materials whose hydrophilic structure enables them to retain large amounts of water in a three-dimensional network.However, in the past few years, hydrogels have gained a great deal of attention in the field of biomedicine, Such as drug or cell carriers, tissue engineering and biosensors, etc. In particular, hydrogels have significant advantages in phototherapy as a drug delivery system.This review summarizes the recent advances in phototherapy applications of hydrogels, with particular emphasis on Three phototherapy methods, including photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy and combination therapy, and their use in cancer and antibacterial applications are discussed, and we hope this review will help inspire future research to further expand the use of this material in New applications in phototherapy
