Is private jet round-the-world tour available in China?
Chinese business jet operators offer only direct charter flights to one or several destinations. Travel packages lasting one or two months and covering more than one civilization have not been launched yet in China.
Deer Jet is one of the earliest operators that offer business jet charter travel in China. In 2008, it launched an “A Taste of Seattle with Private Jet” direct charter service with a newly delivered ACJ319. The company offered a 88,888 RMB per flight hour rate for the first 100 passengers. The total cost per passenger on the 38 seat jet for a return trip - 11 hours one way- is around 1 million RMB, not including parking fees.
Prior to the 2012 London Olympics, Deer Jet joined hands with Caissa Travel, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines, to offer an exclusive 12 seat Olympic Tour. The 8-day, 8.88 million RMB journey took passengers to an Olympic experience from Iceland to the U.K. Deer Jet has also scored a record by flying 16 countries in 14 days, demonstrating that Chinese operators are capable of tailor making round-the-world tours.
Apart from business jet operators like Deer Jet, many flight clubs are offering similar offers. The TripTM Global Theme Travel Club, created by 19 entrepreneurs including Jack Ma, Shi Yuzhu, and Guo Guangchang, for example, often organize business tycoons to fly to sport games, expeditions, or pastime tours.
TripTM has planned many gathering themed travels over the years, such as the “African Animal Migration” tour. The destinations of most trips were decided by the travelers. Private jet only serves as a means of transport. The club once offered a direct charter flight to Bhutan, a 5-day trip that starts from China and covers many scenic spots in Bhutan, with accommodation in five-star hotels or upscale villas. The rates are 1.45 million per person for a 10 seat medium-sized private jet, and 0.7 million RMB per person for a 5-seat small private jet .
Furenhui is another club that offers private jet travel. According to Chen Chaoxian, CEO of the club, the club is new to the market, but because some of their club members own private jets, which, when not used, will incur huge management fees and parking fees as much as 10 million RMB for a 10 seater or bigger high-end business jet, while others have the need for private travel but not the purchasing power to buy a jet, the club starts to leverage its resources to offer international travel solutions for its members.
Currently, the club only offers customized one destination charter flights, such as a financial tour to the U.S. east coast, or a trip of Italy Renaissance.
