Hydrogen peroxide bleaching of wood pulp or non-wood pulp is a very mature technique. In general, hydrogen peroxide is a bleach that does not remove lignin and is therefore mostly used for high-yield bleaching of mechanical and chemical pulps. Hydrogen peroxide is also commonly used for bleaching mixed office waste paper (MOW) and waste newsprint pulp (ONP) to increase its whiteness. In chemical pulp bleaching, the use of hydrogen peroxide in the alkaline treatment section (EOP or EP) is also a common method for production as the amount of chlorine dioxide replaced by chlorine dioxide in the first stage increases.
