The Kinmen Islands are located in the throat of the southern Fujian Province at the mouth of the sea. From southern Fujian to Penghu, Taiwan and overseas countries, Kinmen islands are bound to pass through. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, a large number of Fujian residents and a part of Guangdong immigrants went to Penghu via Kinmen and engaged in cultivation and business in Taiwan. In the meantime, because the Kinmen islands are closer to the mainland and their immigration and land development are more advanced than those in Taiwan, the Penghu region will come earlier. Since the latter half of the Ming Dynasty, Fujian immigrants and their descendants moving to Kinmen have successively migrated to Penghu and the island of Taiwan. Kinmen has become the transfer station for Fujian Immigrants Station and Peng.
