This article starts from the Skopos Theory and points out that translation is a purposeful behavior. Different texts, different audiences, different translation pursuits and purposes will lead translators to adopt different translation methods and strategies. On this basis, this article compares and analyzes the two English translations of Lao She’s Tea House (translators are Ying Ruocheng and Huo Hua). It is pointed out that different translation purposes determine the different translators’ different translation methods and the differences in the choice of source language information. In particular, when facial symmetrial predicates are very culturally specific speech acts, different translation methods are used, eventually leading to Completely different translation results.
