Raman spectroscopy is a popular tool for characterising graphene and other two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides. However, due to the diffraction-limited spatial resolution (typically>200 nm) of confocal Raman microscopy, it is difficult to map the true geometric dimensions and size ofnanoscale defects in single-layer 2D materials and determine the influence on carrier transport in the vicinity of such defects.
