Post-operativc abdominal adhesions, which are the most connnon adverse effects after surgical operation,aftcot millions of individuals around the world and cause billions of dollars in the health-care costs.[1] One common and highly effective approach to prevent adhesion is to place a physical barrier between injured site and the adjacent tissues.[1,2] The need to reduce adhesions and the other associated post-operative complications has driven the development of a number of biodegradable anti-adhesion barriers.[3,4] A biodegradable tri-layered barrier was fabricated by wrappiug carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) sponge layers on both sides of a poly(lactide-co-glycolide)/poly(lactide)-b-poly(ethylene glycol) (PLGA/PLA-b-PEG)electrospun fibrous layer.
