Among currently used imaging technologies, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has some unique advantages in guiding, monitoring and controlling interventional procedures. Superior tissue contrast provided by MRI plain or venous contrast enhancement scans identifies most of the lesions and provides the ideal target indication for treatment. MRI spatial resolution can reach sub-millimeter, of course, suitable for positioning and guiding purposes. MRI can directly obtain multi-layer planar and three-dimensional images, the importance of anatomical relationships can be fully observed.
