Objective To study the expression and DNA content of P53 protein in angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy (AIL), and to investigate the occurrence, development and pathological changes of AIL. 2 Methods Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the immunophenotype and P53 protein expression in 20 patients with AIL, and DNA content was determined by image analysis technique. At the same time, 20 patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) and 10 patients with reactive lymph node hyperplasia were selected. As a comparative study. 3 Results The positive expression rate of P53 protein in AIL was 30% (6/20), which was not related to prognosis. Changes in DNA content had a significant effect on the patient’s prognosis (t=2.864, P<0.05). The difference of P53 protein expression and DNA content between AIL and NHL was significant (χ2=4.912, t=3.552, P<0.05). The DNA content of positive expression of P53 protein in AIL was significantly higher than that of negative expression (t=2.226, P<0.05). 4 Conclusions The changes of P53 protein expression and DNA content are related to the occurrence and development of AIL and malignant transformation. AIL may be a common clinical syndrome shared by different causes and different types of diseases.
