雷蒂亚铁路是一家瑞士运输公司,拥有瑞士最大的私营铁路网。其中,穿过阿尔卑斯山脉的坡道很大、运行条件苛刻的山区米轨铁路,要求所运用的内燃机车功率大、性能好、机车重量和轴重轻、能通过的曲线半径小,同时要具有高安全性和舒适度,能从事整个铁路网的各种作业,包括冬季的除雪作业。因此,对机车转向架的性能提出了极高的要求。介绍了Gmf 4/4型窄轨内燃机车转向架的设计、制造、试验、审批等一系列开发过程。该转向架于2014年9月23日—26日在德国柏林的Inno Trans国际铁路创新博览会上展出。
