A few days ago, I saw an article on medical humanistic narrative. According to the author, Rita Karen, a physician and scholar at the Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia University in the United States, proposed in 2001 to “establish narrative medicine.” The author naturally accepts Karen's point of view that doctors, for example, should have humanistic knowledge, ideally have a high degree of literary accomplishment, should establish a humanistic connection with the patient, and overcome the indifference of the current patient-patient relationship. Of course, the author's idea is correct, but if Karen's point of view is more novel, how much harm medicine does in today's medical industry, and there is still a need for further discussion.
