一辛亥革命胜利后,革命先驱黄兴、宋教仁就积极筹措在武汉创建江汉大学。资产阶级革命为什么在大局初定、前途艰难、百废待兴、财力匮乏之际急于创办大学。而且设立在首义之城呢?这与资产阶级民主革命派重视教育的巨大作用;这与黄宋的革命活动和武汉渊源深厚;这与首义之城的历史地理特殊优势是密不可分的。辛亥革命的领袖,从自己革命理想的树立和领导革命斗争的实际中,充分认识到教育的重要性。他们将教育作为唤醒民众,组织民众的重要手段;把学校作为宣传革命思想的重要据点,培养革命青年的重要阵地。1906年黄兴在《民报》周年庆祝会演讲时说:“欧洲大革命
