In 1985, Tokyo completed a new large gymnasium - Sumida Sumo Museum. At the opening celebration ceremony, the performance is not Sumo, nor is it traditional Japanese art such as kabuki, but Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony.” In more than 70 minutes of the show, more than 5,000 singers from various parts of Japan came together with the music of the song, magnificent and resounded in the hall, the huge dome shaking slightly. The show received great acclaim from the Japanese public. Since then, “Ninth Symphony” has become Sumitomo Sumo Museum’s reservation program.
