北京許多中、小學教師,最近在市教育局和學校領導同志的啟發和幫助下,根據北京市委不久前所發佈的關於提高中小學教育質量的決定,進行了檢查自己的教學質量的工作,不少教師並提出了改進教學工作的計畫。在此以前,北京市教育局曾對全市中學初中二年級和高中二年級的語文、數學兩科進行了統一考試。這種領導和教師相結合的對教學質量進行檢查並提出改進計畫的辦法,是提高我們的中小學教育質量的重要步驟。特別是教師自己主動地檢查自己的教學質量和提出改進工作計畫,更是值得我們注意的事情。本刊這一期發表的北京第四十中學、第二十六中學兩位教師同志檢查自己教學質量的文章,就是一種良好的開端。雖然他們的檢查還不夠全面,(例如缺少優點和成績一方面,缺少政治思想教育一方面) 改進計畫的某些具體做法也不一定完全恰當,但是,他們這種虛心檢查自己工作的誠懇負責的精神和認真細緻的做法,是完全正確的,是應該受到鼓勵的。 這兩位教師檢查出來的中學主要兩門課——語文和數學成績中的缺點,並不是個別的現象,而是目前我們許多中學學生在語文和數學方面相當普遍存在著的。例如語文方面的錯別字很多、用詞不當、語句不適、文章層次不清等
