According to the theory of spatial category, the verbs expressing movement in German can be classified into I and V according to the starting point of the movement, with the most typical being gehen and kommen respectively. Semantically, they can be used as path verbs to refer to specific spatial categories, have indicative semantic features, and can also be used as non-indicative mobile verbs that simply describe the movement patterns. The indication and non-indication of German mobile verbs are characterized by the diversity of semantic mechanisms. This semantic diversity embodies the organic unity of metaphor and associative thinking in cognitive field.
