On October 15, Hong Kong media reported that Mao Zedong’s granddaughter Kong Dongmei, had married to the billionaire Chen Dongsheng, with whom she had been in love for 15 years. Chen Dongsheng divorced from his ex-wife last year.
　　In 1979, the 22-year Chen Dongsheng became a student in the Politic and Economic Department of Wuhan University. After graduation, he was recruited by the Laboratory of Developed Countries, International Trade Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation. Five years later, Chen became the youngest ever deputy editor-in-chief in the Management World magazine which was sponsored by the State Council. In 1993, Chen founded China Guardian Auctions Co., Ltd. Three years later, he founded Taikang Life Insurance Co., Ltd and he took the board chairman and CEO.
　　Chen Dongsheng’s ex-wife Lu Ang was his schoolmate in the Wuhan University. They studied in the same department and got their doctor degree at the same time. Their son Chen Yilun is a new graduate from Harvard University. Lu Ang, who founded Daoxiwine.com and Artcool, a website for commonweal arts, would like to position herself as the “invisible secretary of Chen Dongsheng”.
　　The new bride Kong Dongmei graduated from the English Major at the Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics and began to work in Taikang Life Insurance as one of its founders. In 1999, Kong Dongmei went to the Pennsylvania University for the master degree. In 2001, she returned to Beijing to found the Beijing DongRun Juxiang Bookstore Co., Ltd. It is said that Kong Dongmei has lived with Chen Dongsheng for 15 years and gave birth to three sons. Last year Chen Dongsheng and Lu Ang divorced, after which he and Kong Dongmei held a banquet in the Diaoyutai Hotel. Most people of the Mao Family attended the banquet upon invitation.
