荷兰画家凡·高著名的作品——《向日葵》系列画中,存在一种变种向日葵,它们缺乏一般向日葵颜色较深的中心部分,而是被金色花瓣所代替。这不是凡·高的艺术表现手法,而是忠实地再现了突变的向日葵。现在,研究者确认了造成变异的基因。通过一般向日葵与双重花瓣向日葵杂交,科学家发现一种单一的显性基因导致了“重瓣花”变异。后代杂交显示,第二种变异导致了第三种管状花型——它包含内部盘花的生殖结构。
Among the famous works of Van Gogh, the Dutch painter, the sunflower series, there are varieties of sunflowers that lack the central darker part of the sunflower but are replaced by golden petals. This is not Van Gogh’s artistic expression, but faithfully reproduces the sunflower mutation. Now researchers confirm the gene that caused the mutation. By crossing a common sunflower with a double petal sunflower, scientists found that a single dominant gene resulted in a “double flower” variation. Crossbreeding shows that the second variant results in a third tubular pattern - it contains the reproductive structure of the internal disk.
