However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names.
不论你生活得如何卑微,你都要面对它、经营它,不要逃避,更不要恶言相向。

The fault-finder will find faults in paradise.
爱找缺点的人就是到天堂里也能找到缺点。
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poor-house.
不管它多贫穷,你都要热爱你的生活。甚至在福利院里生活,你也还可以有愉快、兴奋、光荣的时候。
The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.
夕阳反射在福利院的窗户上,跟反射在富户人家窗户上,是一样的明亮;在所有人的门前,积雪同样都会在早春融化。
I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.

Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends,
不要走马观花地用层出不穷的新事物来把自己搞得一团糟,无论它是新的朋友还是新的衣服。
Turn the old, return to them.
找到原有的财富,回去好好经营它们。
Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.
万物不变,是我们在变。衣服可以卖掉,但要保留你的思想。
