老舍是中国二十世纪卓有成就的小说家和剧作家,他的《骆驼祥子》、《茶馆》、《四世同堂》、《方珍珠》等文学作品,都已成了脍炙人口的传世名著,曾荣膺“人民艺术家”的称号。他原名舒庆春,字舍予,满族正红旗人,生于北京一个城市贫民的家庭。早年曾在伦敦大学东方学院任教,回国后又曾在山东大学等校任教。建国后则任中国文联副主席、中国作协副主席等职。著述丰富,擅于刻画市民阶层的生活和心理,同时努力表现时代前进的步伐;文笔生动、幽默,富有地方色彩,被誉为“语言大师”。他生前与中共领导人曾有过不少的接触和交往,但一般人很少知道,本期发表孙琴安先生的文章,披露了一些有关情况,也作为对老舍先生百年诞辰的一种追怀和纪念。
