银桦树干粗壮通直,树冠多呈塔形,常绿,叶二回羽状深裂,总状花序金红艳丽,是群众喜爱和欢迎的速生绿化树种。主要用于城市行道、公路、铁路和四旁绿化。它的木材较为细致,密布闪光的米粒状各式花纹,用于车厢装修、室内装修、制作家具,亦可作为建筑用材。花内富含糖可食,又是良好的蜜源。银桦是山龙眼科植物,原产大洋洲,是当地的绿化树种和用材树种。我国广东、福建、台湾、云南先后引种栽培,现已扩种至我国南部和西南部不少地区。
