疫苗是遏制传染病流行的有效武器。 1910年东北三省发生了肺鼠疫的流行 ,由于肺鼠疫是飞沫传播 ,不易隔离 ,疫情蔓延迅速 ,难以控制 ,一年多的时间病死近四万人。当时政府迫于形势派请在细菌学、流行病学颇有造诣的伍连德博士前往疫区组织防疫工作。伍博士经过临床观察、细菌学试验、病理解剖从流行病学的观点全面分析 ,采取了严格隔离患者———切断传染源 ,焚烧尸体———消灭病原 ,接种疫苗———减少易感人群。这些措施行之十分有效 ,经过努力控制了大流行。在传染病流行时国内外资料均证明接种疫苗减少易感人群是切断流行的重要一环 ,人们在与传染病斗争中总是考虑开发有效的疫苗。研制SARS疫苗必然是当前的热门课题。我国优秀的科学家们 ,经过三个多月的努力分离培养了SARS病毒 ,对疫苗的研制也取得了可喜的进展 ,我们认为疫苗是给千百万健康人群使用的 ,疫苗不仅要有效 ,还要安全。疫苗的预防效果最好能像接种痘苗一样 ,消灭了天花。达不到痘苗那样的效果能在一定时间内增强人群免疫力 ,在传染病流行中可减少易感人群 ,遏制疫病的流行也应视为有效的疫苗。用疫苗扑灭人兽共患病更为困难 ,但疫苗的质量应在今后的实践中研究改进。然而对使用疫苗安全要求只有一个标准。为此 ,我们请从事疫苗研制有
