CERN(the European Lab-oratory for Particle Physics)的科学家们为了让分散在世界各地的研究小组能够很快地共享最新的研究信息而研制的。
WWW Overview WWW is short for “World Wide Web” and is currently the most popular, the most popular and up-to-date information retrieval service on IN-ternet. The WWW was first developed by scientists at CERN (the European Laboratory for Particle Physics) at the European particle physics laboratory to allow research teams scattered around the world to quickly share up-to-date research information. It is a Hypertext based information query tool. Through this hypertext approach, WWW organically combines relevant information from different locations around the world on the Internet and provides a means of rapidly moving from one document to another within an information network. WWW provides a friendly information query interface and a unified user interface. Users only need to make simple query requirements, and then decide on the next action according to the result returned by the system. Where to find and how to query are automatically completed by the WWW . For users, you do not have to worry about where the information resources are. In addition, many other Internet functions, such as E-mail, Telnet, FTP, WALS, etc., are easily accessible via the WWW. Because WWW is powerful and easy to use, WWW is widely used as it emerges, and new and more client-friendly software continues to be introduced. By the summer of 1994, the WWW had become the most popular means of accessing Intrenet resources. The WWW servers are growing at more than 2000% annually, for a total of more than 16,000 units. Our country also formally established the WWW server on the Internet in Beijing in the spring of 1994.
