Spring festival, the Lunar New Year, is the most important traditional one in China. It is carrying great meaning. It stands for a new beginning. During this, people usually make dumplings, visit friends and relatives to say lucky words to each other. Nowadays more and more people prefer to give regards by telephone or by e-mail.
I still remember the pleasant time my family had last year. That night, all the houses, trees and fields were covered with heavy snow. The whole world seemed to be painted white. Maybe it was a present from God. Cold as it was outside, we really didn't mind because of the warm scene inside the house. The whole family were having dinner together. My father's grandma had reached 92 while my little brother was only 4 years old. The four generations sat round the table, talking and laughing over dinner. Mum was so humorous that her funny story made all of us burst into laughter. I was the most exaggerated because I threw the food out of my mouth onto uncle's jacket. The laughter in the house was even louder.
The moment we finished our supper, New Year's Eve came. So we all rushed into the living room to watch TV, of course with some melon seeds and peanuts. The splendid programs brought us a lot of enjoyment too.
It was snowing heavily outside but laughing happily inside, cold outside but warm inside. I won't forget that night for ever.
