Do you blank out, freeze up or feel so nervous in exams that you have trouble writing answers to questions that you knew just the night before? If so, you likely have a case of test anxiety. But, don’t panic. By recognizing the problem, you are taking the first step towards overcoming it.
Believe it or not,a touch of nervousness can sharpen your mind, allowing you to perform more quickly. This is because under stress, the body gives off the hormone adrenaline(肾上腺素), which prepares it for something important that will happen. However, too much anxiety can result in sleeplessness, loss of appetite before tests, and poor performance. Some people might feel shaky, hot or even sick.
If you worry a lot or are a perfectionist, you are more likely to have trouble with test anxiety. Those who have prepared poorly for a test or have had negative experiences taking tests may also experience test anxiety.
When you feel a storm of anxiety coming on,stop what you’re doing and make your mind a blank. If possible, actually tell yourself to “STOP!”. This will get your mind off the stress. Then think of being at a place of comfort and let your body relax. As you continue the test, find questions you know the answers to and answer them first. This will help restore your confidence. Talk to yourself using positive language. Make it a habit to replace each negative thought with a logical reason. For example, “I’ve studied hard and I know the material, so I’m ready to do the best I can.” Another thing you can do is to learn to accept mistakes. In fact, they can be valuable learning opportunities.
Last but not least, start test preparation early — three to five days ahead of the quiz or test. After all, good study habits and skills —for example, time management and note-taking-will give you the feeling that you are in control.

We believe that cruelty to animals for sport is both wrong and unnecessary, and that it has no place in the 21st century. Public opinions show that a majority of people agree with us. We take action within the law to bring about changes to the law to prevent such cruelty. We are against all illegal or violent activities.
The aim of our Education Programme is to provide teachers with exciting educational resources that will form the basis for successful lessons.
Many of these resources can be used to produce interesting lessons even when it is not the main aim of the lesson plan to talk about issues (问题) of cruelty to animals.
Our educational resources are not biased:we try to consider alternative(选择性的) views to avoid indoctrination(灌输), and we work very hard to ensure the resources are factually correct. Please let us know if you disagree.
We welcome suggestions for extra resources, and please send us resources you have used successfully — we will include them and credit you as author!
To be up to date some of our resources are based on newspaper reports. You may wish to check that your school has the free copyright license (版权许可证) available from the Newspaper Licensing Agency.
We also provide more detailed background resources. These are meant to give greater detail on the issues as background for teachers, but they will also be useful for students doing research for coursework. Again these materials are factually correct and are not biased but they do present the League’s view on the issues and this should be made clear to students.
The resources can be found through our education contents page.

Key Factors of Success
Is there a “success personality”? Some winning combination of qualities that leads almost naturally to achievement. If so, exactly what is that secret success formula(公式), and can anyone develop it?
At the Gallup Organization we recently focused in depth on success, examining the attitudes of 1, 500 successful people selected casually from Who’s Who in America. Our research finds out a number of qualities that occur regularly among top achievers. Here is one of the most important, that is, common sense.
Common sense is the most outstanding quality possessed by our respondents(回答者). 79% award themselves a top score in this quality. And 61%say that common sense was very important in contributing to their success.
To most, common sense means the ability to present sound, practical judgments on everyday affairs. To do this, one has to sweep aside extra ideas and get right to the core(核心) of what matters. A Texas oil and gas businessman puts it this way, “The key ability for success is simplifying. In meeting arrangement and industrial management, reducing a complex problem to the simplest term is highly important.”
Is common sense a quality a person is born with, or can you do something to increase it? The oil man’s answer is that common sense can definitely be developed. He attributes his to learning how to debate in school. Another way to increase your store of common sense is to observe it in others, learning from their and your own mistakes.
Besides common sense, there arc many other factors that influence success knowing your field, self-reliance, intelligence, the ability to get things done, leadership, creativity, relationships with others, and of course, luck. But common sense stands out. If you develop these qualities, you’ll succeed. And you might even find yourself listed in Who’s Who someday.
72. It can be learned that common sense ______.
A. is something that common people likebest
B. is a popular quality a person is bornwith
C. is something that enables one to formcorrect opinions
D. is a quality that is possessed by common people

solve a problem, we had better______.
A. get experience through practice
B. pay attention to the most important part of it
C. keep on learning as much as possible
D. rely on ourselves as well as luck
74. The passage is mainly concerned with ______.
A. organizational ability and good working habits
B. the way to gain big profits and achieve fame and success
C. knowledge and interest which areprimary to success
D. what successful people have incommon
75. According to the oil businessman, how can a person develop his / her common sense?
