纳米武器,顾名思义,是指这种武器尺寸很小。纳米(1纳米=10~(-9)米)这个计量单位在日常生活中很少出现,因为它太小了。拿“大”东西头发比,普通头发就有6万~7万纳米粗;拿“小”东西原子比,1纳米也就5个原子排列起来的长度。因此,肉眼是根本看不见纳米级尺寸的物体的。研究纳米级物质(包括分子、原子、电子)在100皮米(1皮米=10~(-12)米)~100纳米空间内的运动规律、内在运动特点,并利用这些特性制造特定功能产品(包括纳米武器在内)的高精尖技术,就是现在在科技界耳熟能详的纳米技术。 纳米技术的迅猛发展,特别是微机电系统的初步成功,为军事科技工作者研制纳米武器奠定了物质基础。
