The localization of Chinese sociology has long been accustomed to finding legitimacy for itself by using the particularity of China, but this article believes that this cause should be laid on the basis of universality. For this reason, Chinese sociology needs to go beyond the special categories of “ethnicity” and “culture” and engage in relevant research from the perspective of “civilization.” The core of “civilization” is twofold. One is to solve the ultimate problem by reflecting on itself and create an ideal full of tension with reality. The second is the relative differentiation of various social sectors. In the civilized sociology of the localization, there is hope to form a universal system of knowledge. As a result, China’s indigenous experience will have greater theoretical potential and make greater contributions to enriching the theoretical treasure trove of world sociology and contributing to the diversification of sociology.
