屈原《九歌》包括十一篇;《东皇太一》、《云中君》、《湘君》、《湘夫人》、《大司命》、《少司命》、《东君》、《河伯》、《山鬼》、《国殇》、《礼魂》.所存问题颇多.比如,篇名之缘由何在?《国殇》是否当“不入《九歌》之中”?笔者认为《国殇》并非刘永济先生论定的太史公所读之《招魂》,是祭祀神灵,而非人鬼,当属《九歌》无疑.《九歌》除送神曲《礼魂》外,每篇祭祀一神,共祭祀十神,但其中湘君、湘夫人实为一神,即“湘灵”.九歌是九神之祭歌,这便是《九歌》得名之由.本文在上述整体认识之下,从抒情线索、语言特色,论证《湘君》、《湘夫人》是一篇之二章,探讨了屈原将之断为二章的原因,并指出后人因混章为篇而出现九歌祭十神的难以理解的事实.笔者好奇,是非得失容或不同于通人,然“道并行而不悖”,要亦无伤大雅也.
