对广州市郊的菜园土和蔬菜调查结果表明：经过长期的精耕细作，广州市郊的菜园土肥力较高，其中有效磷、有效钾含量高于正常水平，除有少数土壤缺铜外，微量元素养分含量都较高。大部分蔬菜种类的硝酸盐含量和全氮含量偏高，其中白菜类和绿叶类蔬菜硝酸盐含量超标较严重；各种蔬菜的含磷量大大超过正常水平，大部分蔬菜种类的含钾量偏高；有２／３的蔬菜缺镁；除极个别蔬菜缺锌或少部分蔬菜含铁过量外，其余蔬菜的铜、锌、铁、锰含量均较正常。
