Gun sales have hit record highs. If you don’t believe it, just look at the parking lot of this gun superstore in Smyrna.
　　Adventure Outdoors sold twice as many firearms last month as they did in December the year before. They’ve been so successful, they recently more than doubled their floor space by moving into a former supermarket.
　　Jay Wallace (Store Owner): I just think...think that they’ve become more popular than they used to be and people are purchasing.

　　According to the 1)FBI, last month set a record high for gun sales in the US with more than 1.5 million background check requests from dealers. That doesn’t include private sales between gun owners. The owner of this store isn’t sure if it’s fear of tougher gun control laws or the fear of growing crime, but here’s what one customer told me. C u s t o m e r : Pe o p l e a r e desperate these days with the economy. There’s a lot more robberies due to that, and we just feel like we need to have ourself protected to…in case something does happen.
　　Those who favor stronger gun control laws, like New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, say too many legally-sold guns are ending up being stolen or resold on the black market. Mayors Against Illegal Guns claims nearly 28% of the weapons sold in Georgia end up at a crime scene within two years.
　　Bloomberg: This is not about 2)ideology or 3)the Second Amendment…
　　It so happens New York’s Mayor is still tangled in a 5-year court battle with Smyrna’s Adventure Outdoors over tighter gun control. So far, it’s been a draw.
