Compaction is strongly characterized by the most characteristic diagenesis of the Jurassic coal measures sandstone in the Beishan area and the most important factor in reducing porosity. The coarse clastic rocks away from the coal seam are characterized by a wide range of calcite cementation and metasomatism, while the fine clastic rocks symbiotic with the coal seams show strong compaction. This difference is related to the original depositional environment and tectonic setting, and is determined by the existence and evolution of the coal seam and the compaction of the circulating fluid. The compaction results in low porosity and permeability of the coal-bearing sandstones. However, the transitional zone dominated by dissolution is moderately compacted and has the best physical properties and the best reservoir configuration.
