随着我国的高等教育从“精英教育”向“大众教育”发展,英语成绩参差不齐的大学新生给高等学校特别是高职院校和一般本科院校的大学英语教学提出了新的课题。但“以应用为目的,实用为主,够用为度”的英语教学指导原则已得到英语教学界和社会的认可,那该如何既行之有效的实施大学英语教学,又提高英语教学质量?文章提出和简述了大学英语分级分段教学是解决这一问题的行之有效的方法建议。
