I see the cloud， but it can’t hide the lights

《Mulholland Drive》出自美国洛杉矶独立民谣摇滚乐队The Never Ending于今年6月发行的首张EP——《One》。这支乐队的成员包括主唱黛比·赖安（Debby Ryan）、吉他手凯尔·摩尔（Kyle Moore）和卡门·库班达（Carman Kubanda）、贝斯手埃德温·卡兰萨（Edwin Carranza）、键盘手哈利·艾伦（Harry Allen）以及鼓手约翰尼·弗兰科（Johnny Franco）。尽管这张EP宣告乐坛注入了一股新鲜血液，但实际上乐队的主唱Debby Ryan并非素人。从小累积的表演经验以及跨国生活带来的艺术灵感使她早早成名于迪士尼的热门剧集，同时她也创作并演唱了多首热门歌曲。
《Mulholland Drive》作为《One》的第一首歌，利用民谣的质朴成功地将Debby与迪士尼众星区别开来。摒弃主流音乐流水线式的繁复编曲，只用简单的吉他和间或穿插的和声铺底，及至歌曲末尾再用微不可闻的耳语点缀，尽显民谣的淳朴与亲切。主唱Debby的声音自始至终都有一种酷酷的稚嫩感——我们能听出这是一个略带沙哑的小女生之音，但声音却没有青春的躁动，反而传达出了一种静得可怕的无情绪状，就像电影《Mulholland Drive》中反复出现的光芒与光芒的遮挡物，极具象征意义，而同时又在这种虚实之间捉摸不定、徘徊踱步。在这里，《Mulholland Drive》绝不止是好莱坞的一条著名大道，却化身为The Never Ending用音乐书写思考之路的起点。
