基质金属蛋白酶(matrix metalloproteinases MMP)作为降解胶原纤维和降解细胞外基质的重要酶类,对牙周组织的破坏起着至关重要的作用。活性胶原酶与明胶酶可以破坏牙周结缔组织从而造成牙周附着丧失,甚至可造成牙槽骨吸收。病人龈沟液(gingival crevicular fluid,GCF)中的MMPs水平与牙周炎病人临床检测指标之间存在一定的相关性,可以用来反应牙周组织的病变状况;通过各种不同的牙周治疗,相应的MMPs有不同程度的降低,因此测定GCF中活性MMPs水平有助于牙周炎的诊断,也可以作为监测牙周炎治疗效果的一种手段。人们已认识到MMPs的检测在牙龈炎症,细胞迁移、增殖、分泌等方面具有重要的衡量价值,对MMPs进行研究有利于控制牙周病的发生和发展。
