In any comprehension exam, the text will contain words that you don’t know.As you will not be allowed to use a dictionary, you will have to do your best to guess the meaning.Even if there’re fifteen or twenty words that you don’t know, you should be able to understand most of them if you keep calm and think carefully. The main thing is to look at the context of each word—the sentence that it is in,and the sentences that come before and after. This will usually help you to get an idea of the meaning.
Unless your English is very good, you probably don’t know the word“stoat”.If it is alone, there’s no way of guessing what it means;but see what happens when it is put into a context.
  I heard a noise,like a rabbit being killed by a stoat.
It is not very difficult to guess its meaning,is it?Some words can be guessed from looking at their forms. For example, you may never have seen“unputdownable”before, but the different parts of the word——un,put, down, able—should each tell you something and help you to guess the meaning.
Do not expect to be able to guess all the new words in a text. There will be some you can only get a vague idea of,and others will be impossible.Do not waste time worrying about these;the most important thing is to understand the text as a whole as well as possible, and one or two difficult words will not make much difference.
   64. According to the passage we can guess the word contain means _____.
   A. be made of
   B. be made up of
   C. have or hold within itself
   D. be made from
   65. A stoat is _____.
   A. a kind of animal
   B. a hunting knife
   C. a kind of poison
   D. a new type of gun
   66. Which of the following is true?
   A. Reading a text, anyone will certainly meet with new words.
   B. This passage introduces to usmany ways of guessing new words.
   C. Spending enough time on unknown words, you are able to understand all of them.
   D. It’s the most important thing in a comprehen-sion exam to do your best to understand the text wholly. 67. This passage tells us how to _____.
   A. grasp the main idea of a text
   B. guess an unknown word
   C. use a context and a word form
   D. make progress in your comprehension exam
   D
In recent years many countries of the world have been faced with the problem of how to make their workers more productive. Some experts claim the answer is to make jobs more varied. But do more various jobs lead to greater productivity? There is evidence to suggest that while variety certainly makes the worker’s life more enjoyable,it does not actually makes him work harder. As far as increasing productivity is concerned, the variety is not an important factor.
Other experts feel that giving the worker freedom to do his job in his own way is important, and there is no doubt that this is true. The problem is that this kind of freedom cannot easily be given in the modern factory with its complicated machinery which must be used in a fixed way. Thus while freedom of choice may be important, there is usually very little that can be done to create it.
Another very important consideration is how each worker contributes to the product he is making. In most factories the worker sees only one part of the product. Some car factories are now experimenting with having many small production lines rather than one large one,so that each worker contributes more to the production of the cars on his line.It would seem that not only is degree of the worker contribution an important factor, therefore, but it is also one we can do something about.
To what extent does more money lead to greater productivity? The workers themselves certainly think this is important. But perhaps they want more money only because the work they do is boring.Money just let them enjoy their spare time more.A similar argument may explain demands for shorter working hours.
Perhaps if we succeed in making their jobs more interesting, they will neither want more money, nor will shorter working hours be so important to them.
  68. Which of the following is the best way to make workers work harder according to the author?
  A. Increase their pay.
  B. Giving them more money.
  C. Making the work itself meaningful.
  D. Replacing large production lines with small one.
  69. For a worker on an assembly line in a car factory, the job is not enjoyable because_____.
  A. he can only make a part of a car
  B. he does not know what he is doing
  C. his life in spare time is more interesting
  D. the importance of his job is not clear to him
   70. In the article,the word“productivity”means _____.
  A. the activity of producing something
  B. the production volume in a time unit
  C. the plan and the method of production
  D. both the quantity and quantity of a product
71.The best title for this passage may be_____.
  A. Problem of Modern Workers
  B. Making Jobs More Interesting

  21-25 AAADB26-30 CDDCB
  31-35 DDCBA
  21.AI'd like to do sth.= I would like to…
   22.Ait是形式主语,真正的主语是 to recover from the operation,这个不定式的逻辑主语应当是人,即he。
   26.CThis youg couple作为一个整体出现,而后面的 couple 与with each other连用,作为个体成员,类似与family class…。
   27.Dfor there to be
  本句可以理解为enough to do …
She is no longer _____ she used to be.
   A. whatB. whoC. whenD. that
   答案为 A,what意为:……
You have had trouble(in) helping me find the house. have no trouble in doing sth为短语,in可以省掉,有时为了结构的需要,可以把短语中的宾语(象trouble)调到前面做先行词,而把原短语变成定语来修饰它。
33.Cnot…as well as,not否定as well as连接的前一部分,He doesn't like drinking as well as smoking.
I would have bought the book if my mother had allowed me to (buy it).
   35.A意为:而不是,than后表示舍掉的部分,例如:would A rather than B, would rather A than B均为取A舍B。
   56-60 DBDCD 61-65 CABCA
