Kate Chopin, who lived in the second half of the 19th century, studied quite a lot about the natural sciences, especially the Darwinism that made the entire Western thought world at that time. His masterpiece “Awakening” infiltrated the author’s comments on Darwin’s theory of animal instinct and sex selection Reflect and respond. Chopin, on the one hand, respected Darwin’s theory of evolution and on the other hand, refuted the patriarchal position of his sexual choice theory. This seemingly contradictory Darwinian embodiment runs through the awakening of Edna, the protagonist of the novel. Chopin organically combines feminist awareness with Darwinism and deepens the feminist meaning of “awakening.”
