Since its establishment at the end of 1986, the Zhongshan Group has been forging ahead in the wave of reforms. It has now grown into a large-scale comprehensive group with a wide range of products, a broad technical field, and a full-featured function. It is among the ranks of large national enterprise groups. Nanjing is an important base for China’s electronics industry. It has seven factories and three research institutes under the Ministry of Electronics Industry. These are the main backbone units of the industry and are called “7 Tigers and 3 Lions.” However, the division of the old system caused problems such as decentralized investment and duplication of production, which seriously hampered the development of productivity. From 1985 to 1986, seven major companies once established with some small and medium-sized enterprises to lead their respective brand names.
