Prior to herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection, antiviral chemotherapy and vaccination with subunit vaccines reduced the severity of herpes zoster but did not prevent the establishment of latent infection and herpes recurrence. In this paper, we firstly inoculate infected animals with HSV glycoprotein gP-2 and gBgD vaccine to recapitulate the recurrent animals.
