震动世界的新闻 1963年5月1日,我国第一艘自己制造的1.5万吨的“跃进” 号大型货轮,开始了中国开往日本的航程。当时中日之间还没有建立外交关系,“跃进”号是根据廖承志——高奇达之助中日民间贸易协定备忘录首航日本的。船上装载着万吨玉米和3000多吨矿产及杂货,鉴于当时台湾国民党军事力量的海上活动,以及中美、中苏、中日,还有与南朝鲜的复杂关系,“跃进”号在生疏的海道上紧绷着自己的神经。 正是五一佳节,北京沉浸在节日的欢乐中。 下午2时左右,中南海西花厅周恩来办公室的电话铃声急促地响了起来。周恩来听完电话,脸色顿时严峻起来:“跃进”号货轮在赴日途中突然沉没！ 周恩来马上给海军打电话,命令“立即派军舰去营救”。
