In Japan, more than 98% of the rice is transplanted rice, and the herbicide used is usually in the form of granules. In recent years, there has been a very significant change in the herbicide application system and the herbicide itself in Japanese rice cultivation: In the conventional system, the herbicide is applied twice, even three times during the early, middle and late stages of rice growth. In recent years, due to the emergence of a new generation of herbicides, this conventional system has been increasingly replaced by so-called “one-off” applications. These “one-off” herbicides have a longer period of control than conventional products and provide adequate control of many annual and perennial weeds.
