In the history of American literature, the novel “Slaughterhouse No.5” by Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007) is generally considered to be the representative book of black humor and post-modern anti-war novels. Vonnegut described the encounter with Billy Pilgrim and the post-war life of Billy in the United States against the backdrop of the Allied bombing in Dresden during World War II. The novel adheres to the American black humor since the 1960s: ridicule, gag, cynicism. However, this may only be the surface of the novel “tip of the iceberg.” Vonnegut’s career began in science fiction, and it was the release of Slaughterhouse 5 that earned it a reputation as a serious writer among readers and literary critics. “Slaughterhouse No. 5” is, of course, a classic
