为了解林木种子是否符合播种要求以及确定最佳播种量,播种前或调种时,必须进行发芽试验。目前,我国进行发芽试验,多采用恒温箱或光照发芽器等,由于仪器价格贵,又须有电源,在一些基层单位,因不具备这些条件,很少进行发芽试验,结果造成很大损失和浪费。河南省每年购进种子达500万斤左右,从1978-1980年,我们对卢氏、栾川、嵩县、中牟等七个种子库购进的刺槐、油松、侧柏、华山松、紫穗槐等种子进行了发芽试验,发现种子发芽率普遍偏低。其主要原因是:种子收购单位大多数无设备或条件所限,无法进行发芽试验,对所经营的种子品质掌握不准。为此,我们于1981年初试制了“林木种子简易发芽
