Developmental dyslexia is the most common type of learning disability, its etiology is complicated. In genetic studies of dyslexia, a number of genetic dysfunctions of the dyslexia have been found, with DCDC2 being repeatedly demonstrated. In addition, pregnancy and perinatal factors, educational level of parents, occupation and income, family reading environment, school environment and so on are also playing an important role in the development of developmental dyslexia. In this paper, we review the DCDC2, its related SNP loci, the related environmental factors and the interaction among them, and provide the basis for the future research on the interaction between genetics and environment.
