为响应世界卫生组织、联合国儿童基金会倡议，保护、促进和支持母乳喂养，青岛市政府自１９９２年以来，即开展创建爱婴医院、争创爱婴市活动。目前，全市县级以上具有接生能力产科床位１０张以上的２９所医院全部达到爱婴医院标准，已获得爱婴医院殊荣。在１３５所有接生能力的乡镇卫生院中１２４所已落实了国际促进母乳喂养十条标准，达标率达９１．８５％，超过卫生部５０％、卫生厅８０％的标准；１２市、区全部通过了爱婴市、区市级评估，受到了市政府的表彰和奖励；全市母乳喂养率由１９９０年的３０．２２％提高到７４．０９％；孕产妇死亡率和儿童死亡率一直控制在全国较低水平，妇女儿童的健康水平有了很大提高。
In response to the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund initiative to protect, promote and support breastfeeding, Qingdao Municipal Government has started the construction of a Baby-Friendly Hospital to create a baby-friendly city since 1992. At present, 29 hospitals above the county level with capacity for delivery of maternity beds have reached the standard of Baby-friendly Hospital and have won the honor of Baby-friendly Hospital. Among all the township clinics that have the capacity of delivery, 124 have implemented 10 international standards for breastfeeding, achieving 91.85% of the international standards of breastfeeding, exceeding the standards of 50% of the Ministry of Health and 80% of the Health Department. All 12 cities and districts have passed the Baby-friendly city and district-level assessment were honored and rewarded by the municipal government. The rate of breast-feeding in the whole city increased from 30.22% in 1990 to 74.09%. The maternal and child mortality rates have been controlled in the whole country At a low level, the health of women and children has greatly improved.
