“大阿福”是深受儿童喜爱的无锡泥人(见图)。传说中的大阿福,是远古时代上天派到人间的童男童女,名叫“沙孩儿”。当时,无锡惠山一带出了一种叫“青饕”的怪兽,专吞食婴儿,给惠山带来灾难。“沙孩儿”神通广大,镇服了邪恶,惠山才复安宁。为感其恩德,人们用泥土塑造了“沙孩儿”的形象,以表示怀念。年复一年,大阿福在人民心目中成为“辟祁纳福”、追求和平的象征。 “Da Fu” is a favorite of children in Wuxi clay figurines (see photo).
